Breeches for the hunter ring?

Although I know tons about jumper breeches, I'm at a bit of a loss for the hunter ring. So, for hunter breeches, should they be beige or tan? Also, how much suede should there be? Like, just the knee patch, or a knee patch extending beneath the top of the boot, or suede that goes further up the thigh? Thanks!
