Going to Phi phi island and Phuket for 2 weeks. Is it necessary for me to have the rabies injection and hep b?

I went to China, and before I left, I HAD to get the hep shots. Basically, you are being very risky if you don't get at least the hep shots. (It is too easily transmitted, especially in Asia) As for the rabies shot, and the Japanese encephalitis shot, I opted to not get them, as my health nurse told me the shots would be cheaper in China. I went to the north part of China, so it's not as 'high risk' as where you're going. Check out with your local vaccination clinic for the high risk areas, and maybe post your questions in a blog geared towards people who have traveled there. (to inquire about the price of rabies shots). For the record I did not get rabies or Japanese encephalitis! Better to be safe than sorry though!
