Do I need a licence or permission to busk in London, from street corners to shopping centres? Not tube.?

We are three women, all clically trained singers, who've recently set-up a trio. We want more performance and exposure so see busking in city of London as good start. We know about Tube licence but what about other public and commercial areas? Can we just turn up and start singing?
